Amazon Kindle is proving to be a gadget that everyone is trying to hunt down, but the problem is that Amazon has already sold and probably has thousands of them pre-ordered. So your chances of getting your hands to Kindle anytime soon are quite slim. Rather than waiting for this so called ‘device of future’ a guy at EeeUser is using FBReader to use his EEE PC for what Amazon Kindle is made. If you use Linux, then you probably know about this freely available reading software. Using it in fullscreen mode, like this guy explains, will allow you to read books (or any document for that matter) in the Kindle like manner. It’s quite funny that people are ready to spend $399 on a device that can do what this free piece of software can on equally priced Asus EEE PC. That proves two things, that people will buy anything that is new in the market and that little bit of knowledge can save you plenty of bucks.
