Ediface by SoundTech: play Guitar Hero with the actual thing
People who play guitar for real usually snub at Guitar Hero. The reason: who'd want make-believe when you can do the actual thing? Connect a real guitar to the game and you give these maestros (?) something to think about. Ediface by SoundTech is a small gizmo designed to accomplish this.
But the device is more useful than mere gaming. It is designed to give guitar the flexibility of a synthesizer. For instance you could use to convert guitar notes to trumpets. Compatible with both Windows XP and Mac, this device's working is quite simple really. It picks up chords being played and translates them into MIDI. Thereon in the results can be converted into any other instrumentation.
Gaming functions are easy to accomplish from here. All one needs is to program the corresponding colors/notes to the actual notes on guitar. SoundTech is working to achieve precisely this.
Maybe this device would do what my music tutor couldn't do. Make me learn the chords, duh!
