There seems, probably, no particular use for laptops unless you are a power-user traveling most of the time. If you can’t categorize yourself under it, then laptops are not meant for you. If internet, entertainment, managing contacts and dates etc. are your basic needs while traveling, then UMPC is the way to go. It is way more portable than laptop and is powerful enough to fulfill all your basic needs.
E-lead is a latest entrant from Taiwan and has launched Noahpad — an UMPC that features 1GHz Via CPU, 512 MB of RAM, 30GB HDD and 7′ Screen. Screen on Noahpad folds back completely and thus can also be used as a portable video player. It comes with Linux Ubuntu and is Windows XP compatible.
Noahpad UMPC boasts of a revolutionarily new input device (as per E-lead), which can be QWERTY dual split touch keyboard that can be seen in the image or something else that will be revealed during its display at CES ‘08. Aggressive pricing can surely set things right for this technically superb device as looks won’t help it to gain a share in market.
