Dyson Award winner Longreach launches into water to save lives in mid sea

The prestigious James Dyson Award always gives us designs with great potential to hit the markets at the earliest. This year the winner of the awards is a bazooka that saves lives. Thinking what that means, well designed by Sam Adeloju the Longreach as it is called, is a modified bazooka used to rescue people drowning in mid water. With the ability launch 150m into the water, the Longreach expands to help the drowning person to float for a while, which gives the lifesaver or the rescuer that much more time to assess the situation and then carry out the lifesaving processes, instead of rushing into the situation and risking their own life too.

Winner of the £20,000 ($32,000) James Dyson Award, Sam Adeloju’s Longreach is a 3.5kg device that on hitting the water activates by expanding foam unit in the Longreach rescue unit, which is also embedded LED illumination and a vortex air whistle. The best part about the Longreach, besides it genius application, is that the use of foam makes it rough and tough and imperishable by debris in high seas.
