With global warming taking its toll on the coastlines around the world, rising sea level has emerged as a major concern now, but it seems like Dutch Architects are done with people whining and crying out “End is near.” They have plans to adapt themselves for the future changes and to do so they want to re-design the country and make it float. The unique foundations will make this happen; there are already houses in Dutch city called Maasbommel which use this technology. These houses are capable of floating due to the unique design of foundations and are linked to water and electricity supply using flexible pipes. Dutch people used to build homes where there was lesser or no risk of floods due to dikes but this kind of technology gives them freedom of creating houses in flood prone areas and that too without any risk.
Real plan is to create a new suburb, designed by Waterstudio, near Amsterdam that will consist of 12,000 houses out of which 600 will be built on water. Illustration of this plan is shown in the photo above.
