Duo sails an amphibious van across the Cook Strait

Amphibious cars have made an impact before the flying cars could. Having relished the spice of the former with the sQuba’s dive, it’s now a moment to raise hands in appreciation for a duo that has got Toyota van sailing on waters of the Cook Strait. Aeronautic mechanists Adam Turnball and Dan Melling have churned a Toyota van into an amphibious vehicle for NZ$2500, dubbing it the Roffliss, they sailed on it successfully from Waikawa marina to Wellington across the Cook Strait at 5 knots. Come back to the land and the van’s still a decent travel, ably gushing at speeds beyond a 100kmph. Check out the video after the jump.
