Dune 4.0 is a piece of art embodying sophisticated technology that makes the system an interactive landscape changing its appearance according to the human presence. The designer of this project has previously designed many such fascinating projects like 4d pixel, a smart surface that physically reacts to your voice, music and can write relievo letters and Liquid 2.0, a living cocoon that physically reacts to your motion and sounds.

Dune 4.0 has been designed in two parts - one is a hard construction (the materials, the present architecture) and second is a soft construction (the software and the human behavior). The hard construction includes several microphones and presence sensors that detect human activity and the soft part consist of specially developed software regulates this and gives an output to the electronics. The output is based 70% on the motion and 30% on the sounds of the visitor.

The best part of this project is that it has a capability to turn the visitors from audience to active participants as the software constantly tunes itself and always stays fresh.

Currently it is placed at main corridor of Montevideo (Amsterdam, NL) and has got a good response from the visitors. Daan Roosegaarde is still working on the project to make it better.
