
Tech geeks are constantly churning out devices with multiple capabilities, such as cell phones with MP3 and camera or cameras with MP3, mouse with an embedded phone and what not. The recently concluded CES revealed the scenario in its true colors. Hybrid products are invading the market with a very fast pace.
This article by Technology Review questions the survival of these products and the ongoing war between the manufacturers with respect to embedding various technologies in their products shunning the product’s actual use for the customers; as it happened in case of Palm excluding Palm operating system from Treo smartphones in favor of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile.
The fact is, today’s tech savvy customer is fully aware what they really want. Of course we would love to carry one hybrid device that can feed our multicolored appetite rather than put on the extra load of five or more and that too with extra cost. So, we do need hybrid devices and that’s the reason they’re thronging the market.
