DIY is a fun hobby, until you meet its dark side. You must have built countless no of harmless DIY, don’t you ever get tempted to build something destructive. If not, then I will give you a sneak-peek of the other side. I've ventured deep into its dark side to bring to you few of the most destructible DIYs from the vast sea of World Wide Web.

DIY Cruise Missile:

You must be thinking that one can only find small DIY bomb or DIY gun over the WWW. But this is really a treasure for the 'destructive DIYer'. Here's a cruise missile DIY that will let you build a missile in your garage. Bruce Simpsons gives us a detailed description on how to construct your own missile without specialist tools and access to specialist gear. Well, he's not supporting terrorism, he states. May be he thinks all terrorists are computer-illiterate. Check out the website.

Time Bomb:

Time bombs are the explosive devises that explode at a specified time, as set by the bomb-specialist. There is not particular time limit, as these bombs can be made to go off even months after being planted. There are two main parts of the time bomb: The explosive and The Timing circuit Technology. The explosive can be a c4 or a home made explosive, that will be set off by the timing circuit. The timing Circuit Technology is the most important part of a time bomb, as its precision will decide when the bomb explodes. There are three types of this technology Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical.

DIY Grenade:

This is serious stuff; don't try this one at home without adult supervision. This activity will show you how to make a real Grenade as used by army men.

You'll need: Iron pipe with threaded ends. 1 1/2 inch to 3 inch diameter and 3 to 8 inches long, Two iron pipe caps, Explosive or propellant, a blasting cap, Fuse cord, hand drill and pliers. Close one end of the pipe with the pipe cap, and fill it half with the explosive, making sure there are no air pockets. Place the blasting cap and the fuse in the middle and fill the pipe full. Make a hole in the other blasting cap to let the fuse out. Check how long will it take for the fuse to fire the blasting cap, like 12 inches of fuse takes 30 seconds. Our personal hand grenade is ready.

Pipe Bomb:

This can be very detrimental if it goes wrong, so be very carefully while making this one. This is a very simple low order explosive that can be used to produce large explosions, as it is seated inside a tightly sealed section of a pipe that produces destructive shrapnel on exploding due to a huge pressure buildup. You just need to fill in a section of a pipe, powdered sparklers and some blackpowder. Seal its one end and close the other end leaving enough space for inserting a fuse, in this case, a sparkler. This is just a small DIY, for bigger and more destructive pipe bombs use a deadlier explosive.

EMP Bombs or E-Bombs:

These are the new generation bombs that are able to fry any electronic equipment standing in their way. It basically creates an EM pulse that raises the current in every conductor it passes through, thus short circuiting it and causing its failure. Main component of this E-bomb is a Flux Compression Generator (FCG) that is the major source of its power. FCG employs a plastic C4 to derive the much needed energy, approx 100Kv. This FCG derives a vircator, which converts the supplied energy into microwaves.

DIY Vortex cannon:

Its smaller version might not seem destructible at all. But if you make it as big as this, you can literally blow anything in its way. This humongous cannon creates a whirl of air or liquid caused by its spiraling motion. The vortex ring is imparted with a huge forward thrust, through a barrel, that is potent enough to annihilate a brick wall. The cannon throws out the vortex rings at 200mhp, all thanks to an explosive air-gas mix. Go blow something up!

Smoke Bombs:

A smoke bomb is generally used for either signaling or smoking the bad as**s out of their hideouts. A smoke bomb can be made at home with off the shelf ingredients like, sugar, potassium nitrate, KNO3, skillet or pan and aluminum foil. For preparation details visit About.com.

ACG 85P-2 Stage Configurable Semi-Automatic Pistol:

ACG 85P is a very portable coil gun. It can throw 10.5 gm projectiles at 5 shots per second. The gun weighs around 1kg with an additional 122 gm of mag. It requires 32v of power supply. The source energy is 87 joules but only 4.5 joules, only 5.1%, is imparted to the projectiles. Well, the next version is supposed to have a better ratio of energy imparted to the projectile.

Manapotions Chain Gun:

Crazy Researchers atManapotions have made this nerf gun that can fire at a speed of 500 rounds per minute, and also has a round counter. They joined 6 D-Cells in series, that give 9 volts of DC, to a nerf gun that fires at a lower speed. More juice means more rounds per sec. Then they added a LED round counter to it and the gun is ready to shoot. This gun shoots darts that are harmless, but who says they always have to be harmless.

Burning Laser Pen:

How could I leave out the laser device? Here is a video that shows you how to transform your normal harmless laser pen into a burning laser pen. Cleverly open up the pen and take out its batteries. Then carefully remove the laser from its housing. Use a hot, but not too hot, soldering iron to heat an indicated spot in the PCB. This will disable the inhibiting property of the laser pen and you can see its burning power unleashed.
