DIYer creates Solar-powered fireflies to glow up your dark nights

As a child I was fascinated by the fire flies (most of you too were I guess), and I wouldn’t deny – I still am. I can spend hours watch them in the pitch dark nights. While my fascination is as far as admiring, Tom Padula, has developed electronic fireflies to double his enthusiasm. These solar-powered and lightweight bugs capture the suns energy during the day to glow for about two hours in the night. Padula’s fireflies that weigh 0.2 ounce and are 18-inch long have rechargeable batteries which are charged each day via six-tiny solar cells. Padula has made about 20 of these bugs that he hangs in his backyard, and in case you’re willing to purchase then $10 apiece is what you’ll have to shell when they are up for sale at the Maker Faire.
