DIY Vans Airforce RV6A dream plane readies for take off

It was Walt Ray’s hobby and he had all the time in this world to fulfill it. In the gray of his life after serving with US military and later as an airplane mechanist, this flying enthusiast singly began working on an airplane way back in 2003 which has now neared completion and is ready to take off. The plane of Ray’s dream is a Vans Airforce RV6A which he built using online help from likeminded flying buffs.

What began taking shaping in a garage took its first flight in July 6. Ray hopes to successfully complete 40 hours of initial test flight so that he and his wife could take their first flight together.
