DIY USB bike generator powers with your pedaling

Cycling is the next in thing; every conscious soul is cycling from place A to place B, saving all carbon foot print possible. Thus, after Nokia has found a solution to use human effort in cycling to charge the rider’s gadgets with its bicycle charger, a DIYer dbc1218 too has tried to make a difference by providing a generator to power USB ports. dbc1218 has developed a USB Bike Generator which is a electricity producing device that mounts onto a cycle and creates optimum energy to power two USB ports which can be used for juicing up any kind of USB powered electronic. The USB Bike Generator uses suitable stepper motor (as generator) and a voltage regulator circuit to preserve the 5 volts of energy needed for the USB ports. Though the project is almost elementary for any to try, but this isn’t good for all power hungry electronics as the DIY generator provides only the 5 volts of power.
