Designing a functional device with an urge of doing it differently can either result in a stunning make or perhaps be only a thing to be mocked. Whatever they say, these Swedish designers from Teenage Engineering have pulled it off really well – churning that so obvious turntable into a different realm. Made in styrofoam, this Turntable DIY Kit is a straightforward design, with the base in white styrofoam while the record playing arm is CNC:d out of orange styrofoam.
The idea among the engineers was to build a low-cost do-it-yourself turntable in high density styrofoam, which they have so avidly managed in this 45/33 RPM device. This unique creativity may not see the light of day, but with the design stuffing in itself a speaker, an amp and USB ports, has the credentials to match up with some of the best makes available.

A 3.5mm headphone output and effects adjusting knob for delay only add to the other specs. If you have fallen for the design and want one made, then visit the website to check a box and submit your email address – and then who knows, they may custom-build a unit for you.
