DIY Snorricam for budding Spielbergs
Here is a DIY item that will make a Spielberg out of you, a Snorricam, named after the Snorri Brothers. Basically, it is camera mounted on an actor’s body that gives an out-of-the-ordinary viewpoint. Throw in about $30 and a day’s labor; you can have it for yourself.

You can build this mount using tools that can easily be found in your home or local hardware store. First make a chest plate using two 8" x 12" pieces of 3/4" plywood with a bit of drilling and hacking. This piece acts as a supporting weight. Now build a shoulder with a 3/4" ply cut out in the shape of a 3" radius semicircle. Screw this shoulder with the chest plate using 5/16" bit for the radial holes and 1/4” bit for the center. For the lower arm, use a 1"x3" that is 17 1/4" long piece of plywood and to build the elbow use a piece of 1/2" plywood that's 8" by 5 1/2". Connect these two together using a semicircular piece of plywood of radius 1 1/4" with one end of lower arm screwed to the shoulder.
Now the only part left for to build is the camera mount and upper arm. Take a piece of 1"x 3" that's 13 1/4" long for the upper arm and to fix it to the elbow at one end. Fix an angle iron or aluminum over the other end to hold a direct mound or a small tripod head for your camera. Your master piece is ready to shoot. For more precise details visit Instructables
