Guns will always remain the preferred weapon of choice for the gangsta’ kind, who can think nothing other than ‘Blood on the sleeve’. They don’t get the kick until they see someone opened up in half with bullets embedded all over them! Probably you are not entirely of that kind (that’s why you are reading this), but still somewhere in the dark corner of your heart, you want to pull that trigger and go boom-boom spraying bullets like the world is going to perish any minute. Ok mate your fantasy is over, I’m not hell bent on anything that will end you up behind the bars, but I’ve got a collection of DIY guns that you can use when no one’s around to bear the brunt. The DIY’s listed below are not in any chronological ordering because each one them is unique in their own front.
1. Net launching gun
This DIY net throwing gun launches a net which leaves the victim stranded in his path, mingled in the web. It’s made out of PVC pipe and compressed air launching system, which shoots a 9.5’ wide net connected to four corner weights (shoot out simultaneously) adding in the air time of the net.
2. BB Machine gun
This machine gun looks more like a tommy gun minus the side winder (present in some of the Tommy guns) has a air compression system that can spray around 500 BB’s in under 2 minutes, with a range of 200 feet. It can hurt you big time so be a little careful while playing with it.
3. Rapid fire gun
Pretty sophisticated in its own league, this DIY rapid fire coil gun has a high power solenoid design to thrust the projectiles out from the magazine into the resident coil breach. The gun is made out of armature, coil, spring and a pulsed voltage producer that packs a punch.
4. Coil Gun that fires at 110 km/h speed
For a DIY gun it sure is one hell of a weapon; it has a laser gun sight, a metal projectile which fires at an astonishing 110km/h at 18 joules of energy. Whoah! That’s some hardcore gun shooting; the gun has electromagnetic coils working as synchronous linear motors and accelerating fire metal pieces. The gun however requires eight seconds of electric charge time.
5. A Gun from James Bond’s closet
It is reminiscent of the guns shown in one of the James Bond flicks which this larger than life character uses to annihilate his enemies. It is made out of a CO2 gun and can be classified into the boy’s toy’s category.
6. The handheld ‘Plasma Gun’
This gun doesn’t shoot out bullets or paint-balls; rather it throws out plasma which causes objects like light bulbs to come alive. A Power Pulse Modulator circuit is the thrust for the two high voltage ignition coils (wired together anti-parallel).
7. Gun made out of Blu-ray LED
If you are (or were) a Star Trek series fan, this DIY gun made out of a Blu-ray LED is tailor made for you. But you’ll have to get your hands on a Blu-ray and rip it out for this DIY (if you’re ready for that).
8. Tesla coil gun
The Tesla gun project can be hard to handle for amateurs, so if you’re planning on making it yourself, go through the project site very carefully. Coming on to the make, it has a auto ignition coil, power relay and a salvaged power drill. Just in case you have nothing to lose you can make it as if ‘who the hell cares’.
9. NERF H300 sniper rifle
Sniper rifles are on the top of my favorites list because these mean machines leave nothing to chance. Sniper rifles are way too costly to own, even a handful of ammunition will cost you a fortune. So it would be better to make a low end sniper rifle yourself. To make it you’ll need a PVC pipe, motorbike pump, sprinkler valve and other random things.
10. Radio controlled Airsoft gun
It is a modified Airsoft gun that is controlled using a radio. The things you will need for this project are two servos, one Electric Air soft gun, some wire, push button switch, FM receiver (one that you can plug servos in to), some wood and tape. The project make can be followed over at instructables.
11. DIY rail gun
The DIY rail gun takes away the limelight with spectacular visual display it puts forward. The project is still under some fine tuning and when finished it will be capable of forty caps each ranked at 400v and 3900 µf. Holy mother of god, is this a DIY gun or what!
12. Sentry gun project
The sentry gun is easier to build as compared to the other projects with all the instructions you need ( firing mechanism or the open source control software) to know on the make process at the project site.
13. The coil handgun
This coil gun is uber’ high tech, as for the most part it is controlled by a computer software aided by a micro-controller. The micro-controller is used to provide enhanced precision for shooting.
14. Prototype laser gun
This is not a real laser gun (the CIA guys would be after the guy if this was real), this gun features in the list just because of its face value. The DIY gun looks intimidating and one straight from the high tech peripheries.
15. Deadly marshmallow gun
This machine uses a PIC12F629 to create 30 high voltage pulses and the PIC triggers a 1000 volt N-Chan FET driving a standard ignition coil. Most of the electronics, including the battery and momentary switch are resident in the handle.
