DIY acrylic dock station for the iPhone

Posted By: Vineet Chauhan | Jul 17 2009

Since its launch the iPhone has been in the news quite a bit. Now to keep up with the hype, Tod Kurt has designed a docking station for the iPhone, that is laser-cut out of acrylic scraps. This dock is constructed out of four quarter-inch acrylic slices. These slices are stacked over each other. There is an oval opening at the top of the two slices to fit the iPhone connector. The third slice has a slot for the cable's way out and the fourth slice keeps the cable snug in its place. These four pieces of acrylic are joined together by four 1″ 2-56 machine screws with nuts.

You can add an extra layer at the top to provide your iPhone some lateral support and protection. This extra layer increases the dock's weight, making it more stable.
