Over the years dressing up in Halloween has become much more elaborate than those traditional skeletons, witches, and devils. And this year to spice up the 'guising' atmosphere with some real deal sci-fi vibe, London's Perkymunkle Designs have designed the full fledged heavy duty 'Prawn' assault rifle we have seen in 2009's acclaimed movie District 9. Yes, the one with which Wikus van der Merwe blasts his way (along with his Prawn colleague) into the MNU compound.

The designers have certainly done a tremendous job with this alien weapon replica. The perfect color scheme of white with strips of orange, along with those angular canisters like projections on the upper section of the long barrel and a bulky cylindrical magazine in front of the trigger - this gun has it all. On closer look, the primary duct taped element is visible, but the overall visual appeal is impressive enough to scare your peers.

Oh yes, and the replica also exudes a different kind of appeal, which is beyond its aesthetic essence. This is because the contraption (having its origin from a NERF blaster) can actually fire foam darts. There is an additional LED setup that lights up once you pull the trigger, though this inspiration is actually taken from another equally devastating alien weapon in the sleeper hit District 9.
Now coming to the really interesting part, the replica (only a single piece is created) is all up for sale. Considering that WETA's non-functional piece is around $500; this gun along with a custom made Prawn 'claw' certainly comes cheap. So, with Halloween being less than two months away, it's high time you broke your piggy bank. And this time for a change, you can pose as a mild-mannered hybrid alien-human hero, and really surprise your monster friends.
