Alereon and DisplayLink will put its Wireless USB display adapter at Consumer Electronics Show in January 2008. The reference design will enable PC accessory Original Equipment Manufacturers to develop wireless display connectivity adapters and related products.
DisplayLink is the result of pairing DisplayLink’s network display technology with Alereon’s Worldwide WiMedia alliance-certified AL5000, which integrates all of the essential RF circuitry, including synthesizer VCO/PLL, anti-alias filters, LNAs and transmit/receive (T/R) switches, Media Access Controller (MAC) and Baseband Processor (BBP) chipset.
With all that, it fulfills the criteria to meet all international regulatory requirements. The scope for future Wireless USB enabled notebook computers from major PC vendors has been taken into consideration while making it fully compatible with them.
Moreover, the chipset includes all the firmware and software drivers, which are must to develop a worldwide Wireless USB product that will cover the entire WiMedia spectrum from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz.
