Dell in a shrewd move has launched new efficient, energy saving and cost saving computers which it will use to target the market of small business, Governments and educational institutes.
Dell is offering three products OptiPlex 320 and 740 desktops and Latitude 131L notebooks, expect for the first the other two models are using AMD chips. Dell is also introducing Quad core servers using AMD chips rather than AMD’s rival Intel.
“We really are targeting the whole gamut,” Dell product manager Rick Perez told AFP a few days ago.
The computers are compatible to Windows Vista edition and dell says now their strategy would be to provide costumers with maximum choice but without compromising on security and manageability.
The Dells new computer chassis can be modified without any tool required and Dell is also offering an intrusion alarm to tell the user whether his computer was opened and modified.

I’m not a huge fan of Dell for reasons I will keep to myself, but they are definitely making moves in the right direction. To keep a business growing you need to adjust the customners you have and the customers you want to gain. Dell’s first move involved buying gaming giant Alianware. Then Dell made the move to include AMD processors into their own machines, excellent marketing strategy by the way. Dell has also, for a long time, made their cases easy to open and change parts within. This is a good move for those that want to buy something affordable and later upgrade it themselves. With good prices and vast offerings Dell is surely headed down a road to keep their business in business.
