DALSA Semiconductor successfully breaks the 100 million-pixel barrier with its new 111-mega pixel image sensor. The 4-inch-square world's highest-resolution CCD features an array of 10,560 x 10,560 pixels and is delivered to Semiconductor Technology Associates to further aid the Astrometry Department of the U.S. Naval Observatory to study position and motion of celestial objects.

According to Engadget, DALSA's new CCD is not the only one bragging of its whopping capacity, there are Fermilab's 500 megapixel digital camera and Better Light's 144-mega pixels E-HS digital back too in the coterie.
