Dallas doctor invents zero gravity anti-radiation suit

Given the advancements in medical imagining, patients have become more vulnerable to dangerous radiations. Medical professionals in the hospitals where radiations are most, face high exposure during medical scans or image-guided surgeries, with only lead aprons to cover themselves against these radiations. Because these, lead jackets are back-breakingly heavy and don’t cover the body completely, Dr Chet Rees of Baylor University Medical Center has developed a thick anti-radiation lead gown, which suspends from the ceiling of an operating room. Called the zero gravity suit, this gown which is like a space suit is much bigger in size than the traditional lead apron and besides having thicker lead is way lighter. The suit also has an acrylic face shield which is impregnated with lead to protect the face. Several prototypes of the suit have been perfected, while Dr Rees believes his invention of the zero gravity suit should reach more hospitals.
