Cybook could be the closest replacement for a paper as yet! This electronic book lets you read on the go in a manner that is very close to reading from an actual paper. Various modern appliances including cellphones let one carry around important documents and access them anywhere, but they never quite give the feeling that stuff written on paper gives.
Cybook at 6.13 ounces is comparable to an average mobile phone, and a good looking one at that. Unlike the mobile phones, Cybook’s screen has a high contrast ratio, meaning that you can view its screen from practically any and every angle.
Documents of various formats including HTML, Txt, PRC and PDF are supported and as far as ebooks are concerned the Cybook supports the MobipocketTM format. 64 MB of internal memory guarantees that several documents can be conveniently stored and the storage capacity can be expanded thanks to a handy SD card slot.
The quick drag-and-drop feature ensures that there will be no fuss when the Cybook is connected to a PC via USB. But the best part is that this device readily doubles up as an image viewer (supporting popular formats like GIF, JPEG and PNG), and hang on an MP3 player as well! The stereo headphones connection will let you listen to some music as you read.
The battery life is good and gives 8,000 page flips once fully charged. The only flaw, if you can call it that, is that there’s no touchscreen and the device operates with the neatly placed 11 buttons. Sold here for $350.
