Hand-cranking is back in business with hand-crank iPod charger, hand-crank battery charger, and not to mention the famous hand-crank MIT $100 laptop’s initial design luring us to flex our muscles. The latest in the coterie is the hand-cranked Motorola PVOT phone created by designer Andre Minoli. The PVOT phone targets developing countries as its niche market, offering a minute of talk time for every 25 turns of the crank, and that’s pretty nice, isn’t it?
Equipped with a AA battery that powers the cool 125×125 dot matrix LCD the phone is controlled by a futuristic-looking ‘Eraser Shield’ keypad.
