Crackle Book: Not melodious, but surely unpredictable fun

Posted By: Madan Lal | Dec 20 2007

I won't suggest you this crackle book experiment if you like melody and avoid hard core noise. The maker took a book, and solidified the pages by painting on a couple of layers of a water/Elmer's glue mixture on the outside of the pages. Then some work with Exacto knife, a Dremel with a cutting disc, and two screws into the covers to secure the enclosure. An innocent and cheap toy was torn out for speaker and speaker cover.

The maker himself praises it for being a fun time item with touch-pad interface, very interesting ambient textures such as white and pink noise, and in the end for its unpredictability. The fun can be made more incredible with 709 chip, if you could find that. For more instructions, check out this link and the video below.
