Too may improvisations have been going on with the mobile phones. And the work from Fraunhofer Institute in Germany is in this very direction. They have engineered a mobile that can work as a video projector.
This miniature projector encloses only a sole mirror, which can be rotated around two axes.
The sugar cube size video projector has become possible since the Red and blue diode lasers can be fit in such a mini-projector as they are quite small. Now, the Fraunhofer researchers are in search of such technical solution that could reduce the size of green diode lasers to the size of red ones.
The customary high-pressure lamp will have to give way to small diode lasers if the projector is to shrink to the size of a sugar cube.
The envisioned projector would be of the diameter 16.25 millimeters.
