Cornucopia - A standalone futuristic multimedia device

Posted By: Jaiyant Cavale | Jul 15 2008

Standalone CD ROM reader devices may soon be the next big thing. Using one of the most basic operating systems, MS DOS, Empreuve's multimedia device 'Cornucopia' seeks to turn multimedia devices as ergonomic as possible. It uses DVI technology and a CD ROM drive and the screen is sized and designed conveniently like an A4 paper. A colour screen helps you watch videos and stills. Empreuve's pathfinder software helps with the navigation and comes with two 4-inch hi-fi speakers with headphone jack and can be controlled by a joystick. The cost of developing this console would range between $4000 to $5000. Such multimedia consoles, which are ergonomically designed, eliminate many disadvantages that normal PCs and laptops have. In fact, Empreuve’s Cornucopia and the like might become as irreplaceable and integral to our lives as TV, cellphones and books are.
