
Corning’s Eagle XG heavy metal-free glass will further chop off the prices of super-thin screens used in LCD televisions, which are already on the downslide.
Eagle XG glass completely eliminates the production of harmful byproducts during manufacturing as it’s free of arsenic and other heavy metals that are used to make glass bubble free.
Peter Bocko, Corning’s director of display-technology research, said:
This is one of the most significant glass inventions in a generation. It reduces the overall cost all the way from digging stuff out of the ground to the end of life of the display.Researchers at Corning took 11 years to carve out the innovation which has further embellilshed the company’s‘fusion draw’ process for better safer display screens.
