Cornell University’s Ranger robot walks itself into the record books

Walking untethered a length of 14.3 miles in about 11 hours time, robot Ranger from Cornell University set an unofficial world record of longest robotic walk. Steered by a remote control, the robot trekked around the indoor track in Cornell's Barton Hall to walk past the 12.8 miles world record set previously by Boston Dynamics' BigDog. While most other walking robots use motors to control their movement, the stroke-like legged Ranger is reported to imitate human walking style ‘using gravity and momentum to help swing its legs forward.’ Click here for the video of the walk.
