The long awaited Toshiba SED TV that promises better picture than LCD (liquid crystal display) or plasma TVs due to a new technology known as surface conduction electron emitter display will not be seen in CES.

The launch of the TV has been delayed several times due to a lawsuit between Canon and Nano-Proprietary. The company displayed a prototype earlier at the Ceatec which caught the interests of a large number of consumers.

Though the company has worked on and improved manufacturing techniques to reduce the cost of the TV but the delay has hindered its effectiveness in the market. Analysts say that due to steep falls in the rates of plasma's and LCD's this product will be an expensive option to go for.

A company spokesperson stated that the delay was not due to any technical or business reasons but due to an ongoing lawsuit between Canon and Nano-Proprietary for the applied Nanotech subsidiary licensed technology to Canon relating to SED TVs. He also said that the issue was now in closed-door settlement talks.

Sorry for U.S. customers as they will not be able to celebrate this New Year with SED TV.
