In breakthrough achievement, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have successfully designed a program that automatically generates 3-D models out of 2-D images.
The complex research started around three decades back, but success is finally achieved after conquering quite a number of failures. The program actually makes computers to differentiate between vertical and horizontal surfaces. The technology allows you to morph you pictures into 3-D on your computer and gives way to its application in robotic vision for better navigation.
