The invention of mobile phones has definitely transformed, rather revolutionized our lives to the extent that communication and keeping in touch has become as easy as dialing a number from anywhere on earth, day or night notwithstanding. But the gadget which has made our lives simpler and faster demands to remain ‘charged up’ if it has to discharge its duty efficiently without interruption.

It’s a prerequisite that for a mobile phone to remain in working condition it has to be charged every few hours. The problem is not that it needs to be charged every few hours, the problem is what to do if the battery runs down at a time when you have forgotten the charger. Or worst still, you have the charger but do not have the facility to plug in. I am sure almost all of you, at one point or the other in your life, must have encountered this problem and cursed your fate for pushing you into the mess. But hey!! There is good news.
Scientists at the Illinois University are in the process of developing a new battery which they say could be 100 times more powerful than the existing ones. This new battery will keep your mobile running for weeks, or even months for that matter!!
Sounds incredible, but it can be a reality sooner than later if this team of engineers has its way. How are they planning to achieve this seemingly impossible feat you asked ? Well, if the report in the Daily Mail is anything to go by, these masterminds are thinking of developing the new battery which will have nanotubes instead of metal wiring.

Nanotubes are carbon tubes 10,000 times smaller than a human hair. Engineers believe that using nanotubes will help extend the battery’s life by up to 100 times.
I think anyone who is dealing with a lot of chargers and plugging things in every night can relate to wanting a cell phone or laptop whose batteries can last for weeks or months.said Eric Pop, of Illinois University's Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, who led the research.
A mobile phone has solved much of our communication problems. Now it’s just a matter of time before we are presented with a mobile phone, which will make the exercise of carrying charger along, redundant. You will also be spared of running from pillar to post in search of a plug point to insert the charger that will keep your mobile charged and up and running. I am sure the invention will revolutionize the mobile market too in favour of the consumers.
