DC-powered devices are used in LCD TVs and Blu-ray Disc recorders to improve the performance and reduce energy consumption. This is the reason that there has been a steady increase in the demand of more compact sized and greater conversion efficiency DC-DC converters, converting between DC voltages. Responding to the demand, Sharp has developed new PQ5CM03 DC-DC converter module with integrated coil, featuring industry’s most compact package size that translates into 9.0 x 6.0 x 2.6 [H] mm.

This converter module features a newly developed IC, providing a higher switching frequency of I MHz. It also supports the low-voltage step-down conversion from 12 V DC input to 1.2 V output. The samples are touted to be available from June 30, 2010 and the mass production is slated to begin on September 30.
