Cockroaches can be really resilient - good enough to survive a nuclear holocaust, who better to know this than someone who’s had the roaches live together, and almost all of us have at some point in life. Now, taking clue from the insect’s lifestyle and efficiency, researchers at Texas A&M University’s Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute are readying cockroaches to help prevent man’s atomic self-destruction, a nuclear catastrophe to say. The cockroaches have been embedded with radiation sensors to their backs, and are being made to be sent into areas that are too risky for humans (potential nuclear weapon hideouts etc). The legs and antennas of the roaches can be controlled by remote controls, which make the insect’s movement human monitored.
