While we’re still drooped down and fighting out the DRM, the iTunes tax has started knocking the door. Soon, it’ll break in, but when, we still don’t know, perhaps, very soon.



As per CNet, the ‘iTunes tax’, that’ll make users to pay taxes on digital purchases of songs and movies, is seeing a partisan divide with Democratic politicians in state capitols more likely to favor it than the Republicans. Nine states that tax digital-media downloads have legislatures controlled by Democrats whereas five have Republican-controlled legislatures.



Apparently the booming digital download business has provoked tax collectors to increase the revenue. But why one should pay extra, when we’re already paying to hook on to the internet, companies that are offering downloads are paying property taxes and while getting an iPod we pay the sales tax too.
