China’s new Bullet train joined the monster fleet of China Railway High-speed (CRH) Series on Saturday. Made of aluminum alloy, this streamlined train, which weighs about seven tons, can afford an incredible speed of 300 km/h. The thinnest part of the body is only 1.5 millimeters thick and that makes it one of the lightest in the world. Further, it not only exceeds the speed of 250 km/h for previous designs, but claims excellence in air tightness, driving force and smoothness of traveling.
The per capita power of the train is 12.7 kilowatts, lower than other high-speed trains, which is generally about 15 kilowatts. Other facilities include a bar in the dining car and double-faced LCD TV screens in the first-class cabins. To reduce the impulsive force and sway of the body, shock absorbers are incorporated. The eight-carriage train can accommodate 600 passengers and will kick off its voyage on the 115-km Beijing-Tianjin route before Olympics.
Furthermore, Sifang Locomotive, a subsidiary of China Southern Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry (Group) Corporation, planned to deliver 10 such trains to the Ministry of Railways in March. With the production of this train, china became the fourth country to own such a hi-speed vehicle. Previously Japan, France and Germany were the only three in this elite group.
