China takes its footprints to the polar regions of the globe by setting up a scientific observatory in the snow clad vicinity of the North Pole. The Chinese fourth scientific expedition team to the North Pole has established an observation station dubbed the "Xue Long" or Snow Dragon on an ice area at 86.55 degrees north latitude. The observatory is set up to carry out research in the ocean, atmosphere as well as ice conditions.
