child friendly f801i

NTT DoCoMo launched a kid friendly mobile called ‘The F801i’ with several child safety features, including a 100-decibel panic alarm that the child can activate by pulling on a cord. With alarm activation, phone flashes and sends an email to a pre-registered address. The e-mail includes GPS information with the child’s location. The geeky Kid can also aware his parents just by triggering a button on the side of headset, which will avoid alarm activation. An amulet-style remote controller with complimentary armband like a wristwatch can be used to handle the phone if the user is away from the device.

The remote will also help in locating the phone when in any case it gets separated from the controller for more than 5 minutes. It provides facility against any access to adult Web sites, and can be programmed to block access to the Internet altogether between 10pm and 6am.

To remove the battery, one requires a screwdriver. Therefore, tractability can’t be disabled for that reason and even if the phone has been shut of, it will automatically switch on itself when the parents wish to inquire about the kids.

Handset measures 10.5 cm x 4.8cm x 1.8cm and weighs 120 grams. Battery allows a stand-by time of about 400 hours, talk-time of 185 minutes and video call time of 110 minutes. The manufacturer Fujistu doesn’t really plans to put it outside Japan right now, but can expand it’s availability in future.
