Sanyo introduced its new product ‘PLC-XL50′, the world’s shortest throw distance LCD projector, at CES 2008. Sanyo used new large diameter aspheric lens and high-precision aspheric mirror technology to shorten the projection length and enabled it to project 80-inch projection from the short distance of only 3-inches. It makes it possible to project large images in any virtual environment, which suffers from space constrained problems.

This 3LCD projector features true XGA resolution and is rated at 2000-lumens. It uses proprietary optical and cooling mechanism technology, which also allows it both vertical and horizontal projection. Mark Holt, the Vice President and General Manager for Sanyo’s Presentation Technologies Division hints at the vast scope of this product, saying,

The PLC-XL50 will be the projector of choice for many space constrained applications, particularly in the educational and public information markets. This is a powerful and revolutionary display tool for the office, digital signage and classrooms, creating a more impressive ambience in any location.

The options for installing such floor, tabletop and wall-mount projection has been modified for the better. Other features includes top and bottom Keystone Correction, a Color Board Mode, additional Black Board Mode for projection with all standardized educational boards, and a built-in vibration sensor alert.
