Polaroid Corp. once was known for cameras that were capable of printing photographs too, now they are back again at it and this time they are going to sell portable printers for cellphones and digi-cams. These printers will be thermal ones and thus no ink hassles what so ever.
In collaboration with Zinc Imaging Inc, Polaroid Corp. is all set to launch 8-ounce printer for about $150. It can communicate with phone or a camera with Bluetooth or by using USB port. It is capable of printing 2×3 inch photograph in less than a minute and sheet used is priced at 40 cent each.
Zinc’s technology was hot talk last year but it was CES when people came to know about their plans with Polaroid.
CES saw another thermal printer Printstik by Planon Systems Solutions Inc., which is priced at $300, weighs 2 pounds and is targeted at business class. It offers black and white prints only on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
