CES 2008: HP MediaSmart Receiver streams digital content to all HDTVs
HP unveiled its new Extender for Windows Media Center, MediaSmart Receiver, at CES 2008, which will do the usual MCE business, and will also play H.264, MPEG-2, AAC. It has built-in 802.11a/b/g/n, a Pocket Media Drive bay, and all the necessary outputs required to run components like HDMI with HDCP. In brief, HP MediaSmart Receiver transforms any TV into a next-generation connected TV, which offers you to enjoy photos, music, movies and videos from multiple PCs around on a bigger screen.

The stylish piano-black, high-gloss finish with HP's exclusive 'Zen' imprint pattern, embedded antennae, and with advanced network connectivity options, it also offers compatibility with other Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)- and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-compatible devices. Thus, you can stream your media and play it off the drive or USB ports and switching modes.
