HP unveiled its new Extender for Windows Media Center, MediaSmart Receiver, at CES 2008, which will do the usual MCE business, and will also play H.264, MPEG-2, AAC. It has built-in 802.11a/b/g/n, a Pocket Media Drive bay, and all the necessary outputs required to run components like HDMI with HDCP. In brief, HP MediaSmart Receiver transforms any TV into a next-generation connected TV, which offers you to enjoy photos, music, movies and videos from multiple PCs around on a bigger screen.
The stylish piano-black, high-gloss finish with HP’s exclusive ‘Zen’ imprint pattern, embedded antennae, and with advanced network connectivity options, it also offers compatibility with other Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)- and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-compatible devices. Thus, you can stream your media and play it off the drive or USB ports and switching modes.
