Already at loggerheads with Google, Microsoft’s chairman Bill Gates has decided to take on Apple inside the ring, equipped with its new music downloading service offering two million tracks for purchase and which is not compatible with the Apple’s Big Boy iPod. Microsoft aims at giving fillip to its digital player, the Portable Media Centre.

Pop singer Justing Timberlake showcased the Microsoft’s new service along with Mr. Gates at the CES. Gates has positioned his Urge, with Microsoft’s latest Vista, against iTunes by offering a subscription for unlimited downloads in addition to MTV music and videos.

At last the minor but more agile rivals have made Microsoft’s sweat and churn out something unique. I wonder the rumours of Google’s robot that cooks pizza has also added fuel to the fire. But we’ll all know what the truth is. The best guy wins, only to be taken over by the fresh one...just wait and watch.
