Electronics will soon give way to robotics. That’s later, for now let’s see what robots and mobile phones can do in combination. KDDI in partnership with Flower Robotics provides us with the Polaris, our opportunity to gawk at the future of cellphones. Polaris a phone-in-robot comprises a handset and a robotic cradle. The handset along with the customary chores monitors user’s daily life activities, while the robotic unit (the cradle) charges the handset and analysis the data from it to improve the user’s lifestyle.

The cradle opens when the phone’s near it, and when the handset is placed within, it closes automatically. The handset then works as a remote control to control the TV set (not sure if HDTVs are included) whereon the cradle displays the individual’s daily routine and other data gathered by the phone around the day. If there are still doubts about the functioning, then please take the jump to see the Polaris in action.
