Cell phones surpass human population

The fact that the number of cell phone subscriptions has surpassed the population in about 30 countries proves that it's no more a gadget for the creamy layer, rather an inevitable necessity.

The more than 100 per cent mobile penetration, as researched by Informa Telecom & Media, clearly depicts the growing craze to go mobile. People with more than one subscription too have given fillip to the craze. The phenomenon is no more restricted to developed countries; it has successfully penetrated developing and poor countries too with companies providing handsets and subscriptions at dirt-cheap rates.
