‘The Big Brother is watching you!‘ or maybe hearing you. Big players like Nokia and Siemens have put an add-on feature on their successful range of phones. This time they look to have been inspired by the George Orwell’s concept of invasion of privacy. Strange(or insane) as it may sound they have come up with a technology which turns an otherwise normal(read harmless) phone into a bugging device as soon as you call from a special number programmed in the aptly named Spyphone.
It deceptively doesn’t ring, light up, bleep or do anything else when answering to the special number.
To add to the deception and the clever design, the connection is broken once the victim presses any key. These Spyphones come with all the usual accessories and manuals and hence don’t invoke any suspicion .So according to the manufacturers these are a perfect gift for keeping a track of your ‘loved ones.’
Personally, I feel all these phones should be dumped in the Atlantic and the promoters be sent to Alcatraz. But then again I am just a blogger who loves his privacy and freedom.
