Carmelit uphill subway: Israel's underground wonder

The only underground metro in Israel, The Carmelit, was originally built in 1956. However, after going through a renovation work, it stands as one of the amazing underground structural wealth. It took over 20 months for its full renovation. The Carmelit runs between three of the most important city centers in Haifa, which includes Down Town, which is one of the key business centers of Haifa, Hadar, a residential, commercial and business area, and Mercaz ha Carmel, a residential, entertainment and leisure area of Haifa.

All the 4 carriages of the underground train are air-conditioned and works on the principle of lifts or elevators. The main control room is located at Carmelit station, which works by automated computer system in accordance with passenger traffic. View it in details --
