The army has since long invented and used new techniques for surveillance and wars. However, once used the method gets known and needs updating so that the war tactics are made and maintained without the enemy knowing. For this purpose the Air Force of every country has a team of specially appointed scientists who develop new ideas and implement them to make effective ammunitions.
Such a new idea is that of robotic bombs that resemble a swarm of bugs and birds which could prove very beneficial for the army operations. Colonel Kirk Kloeppel, head of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s munitions directorate has expressed an interest for ‘bio-inspired munitions’. The army is in the process of developing bio bombs which will be inspired from the animals and much smaller than the present bombs making it feasible to use. These small and self regulated bugs will provide an option of indoor surveillance, something which other devices haven’t been able to do in the past. These bugs will also kill the intended target.
Speculations are that they might also be equipped with the sensing qualities that the real insects have in the form of ‘electrosensing’ which will help them identify the target. The military has already started producing animal inspired robots and projects towards developing this idea have been started.
