Several Trade Associations like BSA (Business Software Alliance) and MPA (Motion Pictures Association) are pushing for a copyright-protection agreement with Chinese Government to crack all forms of Digital Piracy for some years now but have finally succeeded on one issue now.

The industry groups will now provide the Chinese groups with some information about the legal products distributed in the Chinese markets and they hope that the move will be able to get some estimate of the pirated goods in the country.

Both the industry groups have suffered many losses incurring to billions of dollars due to piracy in the country. At an estimate around 86% of the software products in the country in 2005 were pirated.

Both the groups have commented that the Chinese government does not take serious steps to combat piracy and the lack of access of U.S. firms have made the Chinese market one of the biggest markets of pirated goods.

In a separate case five U.S. based movie studios have won a case against a Beijing company that was accused of selling pirated versions of some of the best Hollywood movies that included 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' and some other great titles.

Though there is still much to go to totally finish piracy in the country but it will surely set a milestone as the start of the process.
