Bridgestone unveils A4 and A3 paper-sized AeroBee e-Ink displays

Electronic Paper technology premier Bridgestone showcases world’s first A4 and A3 paper-sized AeroBee e-Ink display terminals at Display 2011. The display terminals will help various manufactures develop large e-paper featured tablets or other devices. Bridgestone’s new A4 and A3 AeroBee technology provides ultra fast response time and performance alongside its celebrated feature as the world’s largest terminals.

The Bridgestone AeroBee e-paper tablet features a touchscreen of 13.1-inch with 4,096 colors merged. The display does have an 800x600 resolution with 1.3sec/page refresh rate. It is a known thing that e-paper display never requires manual page refreshing. The device that sports an ARM11 533MHz CPU and 128MB of RAM runs on Linux 2.6.24. 4GB internal memory is an additional feature of the device. Further, it comes up with connectivity facilities like Bluetooth, WLAN, USB 2.0 as well as a SD card reader. The terminal just weighs under 730g and has a 13mm thickness and a 245x303mm size.

Bridgestone said that its new A4 and A3 AeroBee e-paper based tablets will provide fresh experience for users. Bridgestone, of course, the Japanese tire company used to roll out advanced e-ink display solutions for various devices in association with Vivitek. The company’s e-paper technology is reputed for its capability to display static images at the expense of no energy at all.

According to some sources, the newly unveiled A4 and A3 paper-sized AeroBee terminals from Bridgestone and Vivitek will get massive productions aiming at school students. Bridgestone CEO reportedly said that the company intended to produce lots of prototypes of the device so as to woo real estate firms, hospitals and other businesses to invest in the technology.
