Breathe a windstorm
In case you thought the world was short of wind and other kind of storms then interactive artist Scott Snibbe has come up with a brilliant idea that can record the slightest human breathing pattern and magnify it into a blast a room-filling wind! Commissioned by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Blow up, as the piece is artistically called, is made of two components- one is an array of small impellers which act as breath controlled input device while the output device is essentially a dozen powerful electric fans synced with the impeller. Since the impellers automatically adjust to match the direction and velocity of the input on the tiny controller. Not only can the unit play 'amplified' wind patterns, it can also record captured breaths and play them in a loop! Watch the video after the jump as I contemplate exactly how many 'wind' patterns might this amplifier be able to play!
