Brazilian cops gets eyeglasses with cyborg technology to pinpoint criminals in the crowd

Yes, we all get that sci-fi, Terminator-esque, Robocop-esque vibe, and the truth of the matter is, this groovy yet state-of-the-art pair of glasses is the closest thing one can get to fulfill that "ultra-cool" quotient. According to sources, the glasses utilize an advanced cyborg (cybernetic organism) technology incorporating a facial recognition mechanism. Dubbed as the "Robocop glasses" (no surprise here), when facing a massive crowd, the scanning system can run a check on the people's background to match (if any) their criminal databases.

This fascinating piece of contraption also has an amazing processing speed. At distances up to 50 yards, the glasses can reportedly scan 400 faces per second, comparing 46,000 biometric points on a person’s face against a database of terrorists and other criminals! When a match is made, it is indicated by a red light that blinks within the glass frame, allowing the police to play "cat and mouse" with those people with earlier criminal records pasts or with currently questionable legal statuses. The convenience of the system is that it nullifies all those tedious and rather inefficient processes of checking IDs.

This technology can especially come in handy whenever there is a large crowd. Now, think of the huge crowds that could be involved in 2014 Football World Cup to be played in Brazil; and the eminence of this equipment certainly comes to mind. But the only downside to this technology could be the intrusion on a citizen's sense of privacy, as criminals with past records can certainly become a productive member of the current society.
